Verse 1 I have tasted the high life Dodged in and out of the lows No skin off my nose I dance from moonbeam to comet I land in blankets of stars Between here and mars Verse 2 I have traveled the world Seen cathedrals unfurled Walked a mile in every mans shoes Why must I, when it seems I have left everyone and the whole world behind Still be wondering why Why is it still not enough Chorus There's gotta be something more Behind these open doors A reason, a what for Verse 3 I've stood atop mountain peaks With the canyon beneath Felt my breath just slip away I have held my dreams, every goal in the palm of my hand Still I’m wondering why Why is it still not enough Bridge: I’m looking beyond imitation To find what’s real, illumination Final Chorus There’s gotta be something more Behind these open doors There’s gotta be something more Than what I’m living for There’s gotta be something more Or what is HOPE for A reason, a What for

Verse 1: Like a winnowed seed thrown from a farmers hand, I am scattered A fallen angel lying dead in the sojour’ner’s path, I am trampled
Oh, a flower should grow reaching toward the sun Like a weed, I groan, finding life in the death of innocence
 Pre: I am buried alive
Chorus: I'm down on the upside, riding a rip tide Learning to swim in this hurricane Is there any flip side, rising through blue skies Breaking the grey
Verse 2: Trusting empty I am feasting like royalty on smoke and mirrors An illusion, masquerading serenity, alas, a mere toy
Oh, a life should grow, rooted rich in love Among thorns I groan, strangled, unfruitful
 Pre: I am buried alive
Verse 3: It's only fair I assume a seed has a source. Is there a sower's hand? Is he calloused, like me, is he withered, scorched? Or is he different?
A garden grows, beneath the Gardner’s spade Though flowers may moan, they grow in the death of an innocent
Pre: The "I Am" risen to life? Chorus: I'm down with the upside, riding a rip tide Learning to swim in this hurricane This One is the flipside, rising through blue skies Breaking the grey

Verse 1: Buried within, is a leaven, a sin that if poked and unleashed will rise up, A treacherous beast, from the caverns, though seeming to sleep, Wakes from its slumber, devouring all that it sees Verse 2: A two-headed monster, in human chests, it thirsts for religion, To discover insatiable quests for rebellion, Whatever its aim, law or anarchy, it devours all the same. Chorus 1: Prowling around, a roaring growl, the sound of power moving A dragon dark as the night Down in the ground a kingdom sprouts, its bearing down Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes Rising up Verse 3: A power exceeding, tramples the beast, Uprooting its caves, its den of iniquity A city, a leaven of hope, A kingdom emerges, rebirthing and forming souls Chorus 2: Prowling around, a roaring growl, the sound of power moving, A King that’s clothed in light Down through the clouds a kingdom sprouts, oh coming down Here He comes, Here He comes, Here He comes. A Risen One Bridge: Like a lion the darkness lurks in shadows to kill me But the Lion of Judah is there to deliver me Bringing to life, the buried and dead, redemption
4.
Verse: I severely ache for You my God My soul yearns, to know the One from which I came My soul burns deep within me it rises up In hopes to taste the purest riches of the One Chorus: Christ the Son, Father God Three in One You’re all that I want How I need to become So intimately, so passionately in love Bridge: Oh my deepest desire Is to spend a moment in time Catching a glimpse of You
5.
Verse 1: O Jesus, take my bent away For thinking much of me, And kill my pride , and from this day With mercy make me free. O Jesus, grant the gift to see The treasure that you are, And as the night eclipses me, Pre: O be my Morning Star (Repeat) Ah, Morning Star, You are Chorus: I’ve given You everything that I’ve got Ah, throw it away Throw it away, its broken I wanna see everything that I'm not In light of Your grace, I'm nothing Verse 2: And now if I should serve, or lead, Or give, or mercy show, O Jesus, let my love be freed, And like a river flow. O Jesus, be the treasure of My heart and all I do, And may the river of my love, Pre: Alone make much of you. BRIDGE: Your glory is all that I want Spirit come , I’m yours Without You I’m broken and torn Please hold me close in Your arms
6.
Verse 1: An ancient path drawn by a pen, with ink like a fountain Spilling out shadows cryptic, of the kingdom of heaven Verse 2: A covenant thread pulled through to a man, a beautiful God-man Things old and empty re-crafted, with the treasure of heaven Pre: The letter des troys, by itself it dies, unless brought to life Chorus: I, like the speed of light learn the old revived Beneath another sky, like another life A world turned on it's head, better than the one I've left Where I can Dream Reality Verse 2: Just like a treasure map in hand, a storeroom of riches A plumb line pointing north to a land, found at his right hand Pre: All mystery and, prophecies foretold, now are known Bridge: Some may think there’s a little sorrow, for what seems left behind But the joy rises higher, a portrait of divine, a new paradigm

about

Jesus spoke in Parables! Matthew 13:34-35 gives us Jesus’ reason for using these short stories to teach truth: “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.” In these short stories, Jesus would embed truth like treasure to be found. Only those who would dig would find the true meaning hidden below the surface. In Matthew 13 is the longest ordered sequence of these stories is recorded. Jesus likens the kingdom to that of a seed, yeast, a treasure, a pearl, a net, and the law. All of the parables given have one thing in common; they refer to something that is buried deep, and something that is drawn up to new life. In his string of stories, Jesus tries to tell his hearers that the Kingdom of God is like a man buried and brought back to life.

“Jesus is the exclamation point and purpose of God’s kingdom. He is our treasure."

On this album, Parables of Christ, our GCP team wrote a song for each of these parables. We strung our songs together to tell one overarching story of a girl buried alive and then brought back to life. Enjoy this short story, Body Map (www.gardencityproject.com/gcp-press-pub), and the songs that accompany the story. They work together ultimately to help us savor and contemplate the incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ!
